The Inspiration
I was inspired by the unacknowledged work of the countless men and women who made the antebellum-southern-belle lifestyle possible. What seemed like such a fairy tale on the outside hid a much darker reality.
Research and Aesthetic
These images serve as aesthetic inspiration as well as the pieces to the collages.

I made many collages to practice placing images in patterns and see how colors and characters interact.
Final Collages
After practicing with colors and pieces, I put together three collages conveying the relationship Antebellum lifestyle held with those who enjoyed it and those who made it possible.
In the Real World...
I envision these designs being used as billboards or posters spreading the reality that while we know these lifestyles were possible at a great cost and drive home the contrast between the two.
